IML operates from a purpose built laboratory
covering 4000 sq. ft. A special containment facility for the
detection of E coli 0157 makes Independent MicroLab
one of the few laboratories in Ireland to carry out this test
to accredited standards.
Our customers include many of Ireland's
leading manufactures using both conventional and rapid detection
methods.
The range of tests include standard counts
such as TVC, coliforms, Staph. aureus, Faecal Strep and pathogens
such as Salmonella and Listeria.
IML can also offer a complete package for
Legionella analysis to include assessment of facilities, sampling
and testing. We can also set up a regular monitoring programme
to ensure safety of your systems.
With the introduction of IML into the Eclipse
Scientific Group in 2001, IML can now offer a complete portfolio
of tests to internationally recognised standards, tests which
include comprehensive chemical analysis:

Quality Service
As IML is part of the Eclipse Scientific
Group, which operates a very strong quality ethos, stringent
quality procedures are in place to ensure accurate results.
The laboratory is involved in a number of
proficiency trails thorough out the year, which allows an
independent appraisal of our performance.
IML is also registered with the National
Accreditation Board (INAB) as a public testing facility
for food and water since 1993. The range of accredited tests
is extensive and is constantly under review allowing us
to introduce new tests onto the schedule if and when a requirement
is recognised. A copy of our current scope of accreditation
is available on request.

IML is also registered with the Department
of Agriculture and takes part in ring trails as part of the
registration.
Latest Technology
IML was one of the first laboratories in
Ireland to introduce computerised reporting. The Laboratory
Information Management System (LIMS) allows us to efficiently
manage customer accounts. Specifications for each individual
customer's tests can be inputted onto the system, alerting
staff when an out of specification result is put onto the
system.
The system is constantly being reviewed
and upgraded, so that customers can now pick from templates
of how they wish their reports to be laid out and how they
are to be transmitted to them via either Email, Fax or hard
copy.
Shelf life Testing
During its existence, IML has carried out
a wide range of shelf life trials for a number of leading
food companies, which include taste panels and evaluations
of the effects of temperature abuse. We provide all the necessary
support to customers such as assisting in the setting up of
tests. Testing can be done on short and long shelf life products.
Customer service
Microbiologists are on hand to provide you
with analysis of results and provide guidance and interpretation.
We can make recommendations on how to take corrective action
on unacceptable results. We can also carry out an appraisal
of customer premises and set up a programme of testing to
ensure that your organisation is showing Due diligence in
regards to its testing.
Out of specification results are reported
immediately to customers allowing immediate action to be taken.
Out of hours service is available at customer
request. A number of our customers are exporting to Sweden,
which operates a zero tolerance policy in regards to Salmonella.
Results are required before the product can be processed.
IML operate a testing schedule to accredited standards, ensuring
that results are reported in a timely manner.
IML operates a proactive approach towards
changes in current legislation and current scares, updating
customers on what the position is and how they can address
them.
