Telford Laboratory

We currently have the following full time vacancy at the Telford Laboratory:-

Site Quality Officer

Outline of main roles and responsibilities:-

Responsible for the maintenance of the Eclipse Quality System within the Telford Laboratory (Microbiology, Milk, Dairy Chemistry and Animal Health departments) on a day to day basis.

Duties include:

• Managing the internal Quality Control programme (IQC) by preparing IQC samples for the Laboratory correlating and assessing results.

• Investigating and completing AQC Failures and EQA failures.

• Recording & trending of EQA results.

• Carry out microbiology media QC as required by the site.

• Maintaining and carrying out internal and external calibrations (thermometers, balances etc).

• Manage and complete all corrective and preventive actions.

• Management and action of internal anomalies and customer complaints.

• Document control (internal and external documents for site and Group Microbiology).

• Manage the site audit schedule, and carry out both Technical and Quality audits.

• Advise customers as required on quality system issues; host customer audits and visits as required by the site.

• Assisting with validation work at site and Group, review of methods and appropriateness of methods.

• Auditing across sites in conjunction with the Group Quality Manager.

The person must have experience of UKAS requirements and preferably a Microbiology background or equivalent qualifications. They must have the ability to work on their own and manage projects to tight deadlines. The position may involve travelling to other sites, so flexibility is essential.

Telford Laboratory

We currently have the following full time temporary vacancy in the microbiology laboratory at Telford:-

LABORATORY ASSISTANT (Full Time)

This will be a 12 month temporary appointment to cover maternity leave, working a 4 days on 4 days off shift pattern (10.00am to 10.00pm); main duties will include:

• Preparation of food samples for analysis.

• Microbiological analysis of food and swab samples for routine tests and pathogens (Salmonella and Listeria).

• Entering data on ELMS.

You should possess:

• The ability to work accurately to tight deadlines.

• A flexible approach.

• Experience in a microbiology laboratory or equivalent.

Full training will be provided but previous relevant experience would be an advantage.
