Ashford Laboratory

We currently have the following full time permanent vacancy in the Support Services section at Ashford:-

TEAM LEADER (Water Section)

Working 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday (9.30am to 6.30pm); main duties will include but are not restricted to:

• Day-to-day supervision and organisation of the water section to ensure that all samples are analysed within timescales acceptable to the client.

• To ensure that all results are calculated, checked and entered onto ELMS without delay.

• To ensure that agreed quality and safety procedures are continually adhered to.

• To act as an Authorised Signatory for Test Certificates (water samples only) and liaise with clients when required.

• To take an active role in method development and staff training.

The ideal candidate should have a degree in Microbiology or equivalent qualification and previous supervisory experience. Specific knowledge and experience of methods for the analysis of water samples including Legionella to UKAS standards would be an advantage.

Ashford Laboratory

ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANT (Sample Receipt)

Working 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday (9.30am to 6.30pm) plus covering weekends / Public Holidays on a rota basis for time off in-lieu; main duties will include but are not restricted to:

• Receiving, unpacking and sorting samples from internal and external couriers.

• Registering samples onto ELMS, producing sample labels and preparation sheets.

• Dealing with telephone enquiries.

• Sending out sample bottles, swabs or other consumable items to clients.

• Organisation and storage of shelf life samples within our cold storage facilities.

• Electronic and hard copy filing of laboratory records.

• Other general office duties.

Candidates must possess good communication and keyboard skills. Full training will be provided but previous relevant experience would be an advantage.

Chatteris Laboratory

Section Head

Working a 4 days on 4 days off shift pattern (9.00am to 9.00pm); main duties will include but are not restricted to:

• To oversee the microbiological analysis of food and swab samples for routine tests and confirmation of pathogens and to assist with bench work when demand requires.

• Plate reading and entering data on ELMS.

• Regular daily contact with laboratory manager.

• Training and induction of new staff.

• To act as an Authorised Signatory for Test Certificates and liaise with clients when required.

• To take an active role in method development and staff training.

• To ensure good communication between sample receipt, media prep and the laboratory for the smooth running of the department.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Microbiology or equivalent qualification and previous supervisory experience.

Ely Laboratory

ANALYST – (Pharmaceutical Chemistry)

We are currently seeking to recruit an Analyst within our Pharmaceutical Chemistry Section at our Ely Site.

You will ideally have a degree or equivalent in Chemistry or a related subject and practical experience in one or more of the following analytical techniques- HPLC, AAS, GC, IC, ISE.

Examples of the comprehensive range of analyses undertaken include raw materials testing, import / QC release of finished products, storage stability trials, method development and validation and GMP Projects using instrumental and physical procedures.

Main Duties will include:

• Performing routine Chemistry tests.

• Testing in accordance with Pharmacopoeia Monographs – BP, PhEur, USP, JP.

• Testing to customer specific procedures.

• Conducting analysis for GMP Projects.

• Method development, as required.

You Should Possess:

• A keen eye for detail.

• The ability to work as a member of a highly motivated team.

• The ability to work to tight deadlines.

• Good time management skills.

• GMP knowledge preferable, although not essential

• Ability to use own initiative.

• Good communication skills and an ability to accurately follow methods to regulatory standards.

Chatteris

Scientific Assistants (Grade 1-2)

Permanent Position

We are currently seeking to recruit a number of Scientific Assistants within our Nutritional Chemistry Section at our Chatteris Site.

Applications will be considered from those with formal qualifications (Minimum GCSE / A Level) and/or relevant experience of working within a contract laboratory environment.

Examples of the comprehensive range of analyses undertaken include, nutritional analyses for labelling purposes, assessment of food quality by various analytical procedures and full mineral analysis on a range of food and feed samples. 

Full training will be provided to the successful applicants by way of extensive internal training/supervision.

Main Duties will include:

• Analysis of food/feed samples using basic wet chemistry techniques
• Assisting with result entry/checking onto the ELMS system
• Adhering to UKAS accredited procedures and their requirements

We currently have 2 shift patterns available, 4 days on / 4 days off shift pattern and Monday to Friday 40 hours per week.

Eclipse Scientific Group is one of the UK’s leading independent analysis and consultancy service providers.  Due to business expansion, we have the following vacancies at our laboratory in Chatteris: 

Technical Assistant 

Our technicians work in teams carrying out microbiological and chemical analysis of feed, food and water samples.  In addition to a variety of technical analytical duties they also enter laboratory results on to our computerised system.

The current positions are for Evenings, Monday to Friday, hours ranging from 3pm to 8pm, 4pm to 9pm & 5pm to 10pm.  Vacancies exist for both our Sample Receipt Department and laboratory.

The successful candidates will be good team players with excellent attention to detail, basic computer skills and the ability to work under pressure in a busy environment and to tight deadlines.  Relevant qualifications or experience would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided.

Laboratory Assistants

Main duties will include:

• Responsible for the assisting in the through put of customer samples, entering data onto our computerised Laboratory Management System in an efficient, timely and accurate manner, and any other relevant duties as required

You Should Possess:

• Basic keyboard/computer skills along with good attention for detail
• Good communication skills will also be required as the post holder will be expected to liaise with Management and customers on a daily basis
• Previous Laboratory experience in a similar role would be beneficial, although full training will be provided

These are full time positions with some based on a 4 On 4 Off Shift pattern.  There are vacant positions on both the day and night shifts.
