Eclipse Scientific opens a major new laboratory in the North

As part of our continued expansion across the UK, we are delighted to announce the recent opening of a major new laboratory in Mirfield, West Yorkshire. 

The purpose-built 750 sq m facility is on the same site as our Head Office and provides us with more than double the capacity of our Manchester laboratory which closed at the end of December.

Conveniently located just off Junction 25 of the M62, the Mirfield laboratory allows fast and easy access to the motorway network across the north of England - making it easier for Eclipse to reach customers in both the north west and north east as well as down the M1/A1 corridor into the East Midlands.

The site is fully operational and carrying out an enlarged range of testing for a wide variety of customers who have transferred their business with us across from Manchester. These include many of the UK’s leading major food manufacturers, including producers of chilled foods, desserts and cakes.

As with all Eclipse’s food laboratories in the UK, Mirfield is UKAS accredited and Marks & Spencer approved and able to offer customers an extensive range of microbiological testing delivered by a team of hand-picked, experienced and knowledgeable staff.

Some of the key features of the new lab include…

• Rapid test methods for listeria and salmonella
• Greater storage capacity for shelf-life tests
• A separate autoclave room
• More space throughout allowing improved process flow through the lab
• Increased physical capacity allows us to widen the range of on-site testing even further in the future
