Sudan I - IV in food products

Eclipse Scientific Group offers an HPLC method of analysis for the analysis of Sudan I, Sudan II, Sudan III and Sudan IV (Sudan 1, Sudan 2, Sudan 3, Sudan 4) dyes, which have been found in diverse products where chillies have been used as an ingredient.

The UK Food Standards Agency website gives details of legislation requiring all cargoes of dried chillies and curry powders to be tested for the presence of these dyes before entering the EU.
